Residence halls close May 22; late fee to apply after deadline
Residence halls will close at noon May 22. Graduating seniors have until 7 p.m. May 22 to check out.
Residents not checked out by this time will have to pay a $50 late fee. Resident assistants will be available in their dorm rooms for checkouts beginning at noon Monday and will begin checkouts at the desk May 20.
Residents need to have all belongings out of their rooms, sweep and mop their floors, clean and turn in their room keys and fobs to the RA staff.

Graduation ceremony to finish spring quarter; O'Keefe to speak
Spring Commencement will be held 2 p.m. May 22 at the Thomas Assembly Center, located at 1650 W. Alabama Ave.
About 900 students are expected to graduate, and it is estimated the ceremony will last about three to three-and-a-half hours. Sean O'Keefe, NASA Administrator, is the guest speaker.
The graduation of colleges is as follows: College of Administration and Business, College of Applied and Natural Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering and Science, College of Liberal Arts and the Graduate School.

Theatre to host awards banquet honoring performers, workers
The Tech Tony Awards Banquet will be held 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the patio of Sundown West Tavern, located at 111 Park Ave.
Every year season ticket holders vote for their favorite performers among the Tech Theatre Players.
There is no charge to attend, but donations will be taken at the door. Awards for best actor and actress, best supporting actor and actress will be given.
Other awards to be given include technical achievement, costume design, lighting design and stage management. Nominees are decided by directors of individual shows and the theatre faculty.

Hospital holds weight-loss clinic in summer to help shed pounds
Summer Slim-a-thon weight loss classes will be held at noon Tuesday in Lincoln General Hospital, 401 E. Vaughn St.Ê
The 10-week course is intended to help learn how to lose those extra pounds just in time for summer vacation. Ê
Both a personalized nutritional plan and exercise program will be given to participants, and classes will be held in the Women's Center classroom on the second floor of Lincoln General Hospital. Ê
The cost is $60, and everyone is invited to sign up. Deadline for registration is Tuesday.

College Republicans to support troops through community rally
The College Republicans will hold their Support the Troops rally at 7 p.m. today in Railroad Park, across from Lewis and Company LTD, located at108 Park Ave.
The purpose of the rally is to show appreciation to the 527th Engineering Battalion for their service last year.
The rally is also to support those currently overseas and those who may be deployed in the future.

First Baptist Church sponsors softball tournament Saturday
A softball tournament for students will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, located at 200 S. Trenton St.
The cost to sign up is $100 per team. Each player from the winning team will receive a $15 gift certificate to Outback Steak House in West Monroe.
The proceeds for the event will help send children to Centrifuge Youth Camp, a Bible retreat for children ages 8-12, in Panama City Beach, Fla.
A hamburger lunch will be served for $5 a plate at the event, which is open to the public. Co-ed brackets will be available if at least four teams sign up.

Change of command ceremony, parade takes place Wednesday
Tech's Air Force ROTC Detachment 305 is holding its Change of Command parade and ceremony at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Air Force Drill Pad, located on the north side of the Thomas Assembly Center's parking lot.
Cadet Aaron Chen, a senior electrical engineering major, will step down as Wing Commander of the detachment, and Cadet Jason Woodley, a junior history major, will assume the position of Wing Commander.
Wing Commander is the student cadet in charge of the other student cadets.
They also make sure cadets meet all training requirements. Family and friends of cadets and officers are invited to attend.

Annual Performing Arts recital to showcase university talent
The third annual Robert E. Cheatham Honors Recital is at 7:30 p.m. today in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts.
The recital is free and open to the public.
Awards will be presented to students at the end of the recital concerning all major areas within the School of Performing Arts.
A program of music and theater will also be performed during the recital. Various classical literatures in voice, string, winds and percussion will also be performed.
