Annual lecture series to be held by School of Human Ecology
The Center for Children and Families, in the department of human ecology, will sponsor the 18th annual Bruce Everist Lecture Series on grandparents raising grandchildren from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Lincoln Parish Library, located at 910 North Trenton St.
The lecture series is open to everyone, and admission is free.
Guests who attend the lecture series are automatically entered into a drawing to win door prizes.

LTCA to put on 11 one-act plays next week in Stone Theatre
The Louisiana Tech Concert Association is holding a one-act play festival.
The shows will start at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday in Stone Theatre, located in the west wing of Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for children and $4 for students with a Tech ID.
There are 11 shows in total, with different shows every night. There will be three shows Monday and four shows Tuesday and Wednesday.
Box office hours are 1:30 to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Deadline approaching for SGA member-at-large applications
Applications for the Student Government Association members at large are due at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
Applications will be accepted at the SGA office, located in Tolliver Hall, Room 211-212 or online at http://www.latech.edu/tech/orgs/sga.
Students may apply to become members-at-large.
Candidates for members-at-large must meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.0.
Other positions, such as committee members or directors, are also available.
There is no fee to join SGA, and all undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

First Biomed Engineering Day to be tomorrow in Bogard Hall
Doctoral students of biomedical engineering will present Tech's first Biomedical Engineering Research Day.
It will be an all-day affair that will take place tomorrow in Bogard Hall, located at the corner of Adams Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.
Posters depicting the research projects of senior and graduate Tech students, as well as collaborations with other universities, will be on display at the event. The researchers will also be present to explain their projects to the audience.
The deadline for those interested in submitting research papers for the occasion is tomorrow.
The target audiences are Tech students and local high school students interested in biomedical engineering as a prospective field of study, but everyone is encouraged to attend.

Student art display highlights communication design projects
The School of Art is holding the Master of Fine Arts Student Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. now until May 13.
The work will be displayed in the E.J. Bellocq Gallery and the Main Gallery, located adjacent to each other, in the Visual Arts Center.
The Visual Arts Center is located across from A.E. Phillips Laboratory School, and next to the M.S. Carroll Natatorium.
The featured artists include Donnie Bell, Matt Harbin, Kevin Smith and Ryan Oswald, all graduate students in communication design.
The show will feature a wide variety of communication design projects, including exploring the process of design.

Faculty musicians to perform tonight in Visual Arts Center
The School of Performing Arts will present "Duos and Trios" at 7:30 tonight in the Main Art Gallery in the Visual Arts Center, located next to the M.S. Carroll Natatorium, with no admission charge.
"Duos and Trios" is an evening of chamber music performed by Tech music faculty and guests.
The performers include Randall Sorensen, an assistant professor of music, on the trumpet; Gary Westbrook, an assistant professor of music, playing percussion; Joe Alexander, an assistant professor of music, playing the tuba; and Lawrence Gibbs, an associate professor of music, on the clarinet.
Other faculty artists performing include Alan Goldspiel, an associate professor of music, on the guitar and Sue Holder, a professor of music, playing the piano. Everyone is invited to attend.

Get cake, eat it at choral show Monday in the Student Center
The Louisiana Tech University Choirs will present a Dessert Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Dessert and coffee will be served to the audience. General admission is $5. Silver and gold tables, with four seats per table, are $15 and $25, respectively. Desserts will be served to those at the tables.
Tickets are available at The Cake Plate, 110 N Monroe St., and Crescent City Coffee at 1007 N Trenton St.
Proceeds will benefit choir members attending the 2006 Mozart Choral Festival in Austria.

Tickets for COE award banquet available Tuesday in IDEA Place
Tickets to attend the College of Education Awards Celebration Banquet must be purchased by 5 p.m. Tuesday in the IDEA Place, located beside Woodard Hall.
The banquet will be held 6 p.m. next Thursday in the Thomas Assembly Center, located next to Joe Aillet Stadium.
Academic excellence, participation in organizations and contributions to the College of Education will be celebrated during this event.
All students and faculty within the COE will be admitted for free; others can purchase a ticket for $15. Those who intend to attend must go by the IDEA Place and sign up to receive their ticket.
