Tech's Student Government Association covered topics from voter registration to the installation of new bike racks on campus Tuesday night during its second meeting of the quarter.

The SGA held a voter registration drive last week that produced 125 newly-registered voters with 95 becoming registered in Lincoln Parish.

Kimberly Ludwig, SGA president and a senior business management and entreprenuership major, said the drive was about educating students.

"We're trying to raise awareness about voting and let students know that living in the residence halls qualifies them to vote in Lincoln Parish," Ludwig said.

Those interested can register to vote through the SGA in the Student Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m..

Lindsey Mencacci, vice president of SGA and a junior biology major, said they will also be passing out political surveys.

"We want to get a feel for who is registered and where," Mencacci said. A representative for the Association of Disabled Students who attended the meeting, said members will meet Thursday to discuss the possibility of adding an automatic door to Hale Hall.

In addition the SGA created a spinoff committee from ADS to attend to the need for a bike rack at Hale Hall.

Kirk Sweeney, a senior professional aviation major and liberal arts senator, said this committee is important because of the services it can provide.

"Everyone knows parking can be a real hassle around campus," Sweeney said. "Getting bike racks will encourage bike travel and hopefully cut down on the parking problem."

SGA also still has 15 seats available for the trip to Knoxville, Tenn. to watch the Bulldogs take on the University of Tennessee Volunteers 6 p.m. Saturday in Neyland Stadium.

The cost of the trip is $85 and must be submitted Friday.
