Scratch the word "interim" from the title of Tech tennis coach Terrence De Jongh.

Tech Director of Athletics Jim Oakes announced in July that De Jongh has been made the official coach of the Tennis Techsters after serving as interim coach last season.

His stint as interim coach was a successful one as De Jongh guided the Tennis Techsters to their best finish in recent years with a season record of 9-12.

"I'm very happy to know that the work I've done has paid off and I'm officially the coach of this team," De Jongh said. "We think we have a good foundation in place and that we made a lot of progress last season. Now we have to build on that and try to turn this into one of the top tennis programs in the country."

De Jongh served as an assistant coach for four seasons before taking over the role as interim head coach last season following the departure of Greg Hearn.

A native of the island nation of Aruba, located in the Caribbean, De Jongh played on the International Tennis Federation circuit representing his country and was ranked internationally in both singles and doubles.

De Jongh graduated high school in 1995 from Scholen Gemeenschap on Bonaire Island and received a general electrical engineering degree in 1999 from Ir Cesar Tarzano Junior College in Aruba.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Tech in May of 2003 and is currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration from Tech.
