The stars were not just twinkling in the sky last Thursday evening, but a few of them came down to Tolliver for the night.

Three local musicians had the chance to show off their guitar-playing talents at KLPI's Fall Fest concert held Oct. 16 in the Tolliver Hall staging area.

Brandt Cooley, a sophomore marketing major, said he was more than willing to perform.

"We usually get a good response for events like this," Cooley said. "The stage is in the middle of everything so students who might have not heard will still come and watch."

Michael Dowling, a freshman computer science major, and Michael Frusha, a senior management major, also performed.

With the crowd fluctuating throughout the night, Dowling first took the stage singing songs about bad kitties, armadillos and the worst date ever.

Frusha followed, alternating between his mellow original tunes and cover songs.

Denton Sorrells, station music director and a junior biomedical engineering major, said although it was the Student Government Association's idea for the show, KLPI sponsored it and put it together.

"We picked the acts because we had either heard them before, or they sent us a demo and we liked it," Sorrells said.

The concert was broadcast over the air by MP3 audio streaming from Tolliver Hall to the station.

KLPI gave away promotional items and staff members also conducted a survey, which will later be used in a drawing for Three Doors Down or Voodoo Music Festival tickets.
