1. Call to Order: Patsy Bourgeois
The November 13, 2006 meeting of the University Senate was called to order at 4:03 p.m. in Ropp Center, Room 105, by President Patsy Bourgeois.
2. Roll Call: Rose Butler
Senators absent from the meeting: Tammy Butler, David Mills, Charles Cicciarella, Amy Vessel (proxy), Sumeet Dua, Andrei Paun, Bill Deese, Chester Wilson, Rebecca Brantley, Linda Leonard, David Smith, Jennifer Byrd and Aziz Saber.
3. Adoption of Agenda
A motion was made to accept the agenda and was seconded and approved.
4. Adoption of Minutes
A motion was made to accept the October 23, 2006 minutes. The motion was seconded and approved.
5. Treasurer’s Report – Brian Etheridge
A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report. The motion was seconded and approved.
6. Announcements
A. Faculty Advisory Council – Donna Fuller
Donna Fuller attended the meeting at ULM on October 26. Emergency leave was discussed. Once a new policy is adopted, the policy will go to the Universities for implementation.
B. Administrative and Planning Council – no report
7. Unfinished Business
A. Telephone System improvements – Patsy Bourgeois will meet with Dr. Reneau next week to continue discussion. She hopes to have something in writing from Dr. Reneau soon.
B. Parking Focus Group – no information to report. A discussion followed on parking problems.
8. Voluntary Remarks
Question was asked if there is a memo from Bob Vento restricting juniors from registering for 300/400 level classes. If true, question was asked if the Senate should intervene as this will cause registration problems. Patsy Bourgeois will explore this asap.
Board of Supervisors has approved the new housing plans for Tech.
Senate was asked if they would like Jim King to address the Senate on Tech’s plans for changes on the campus. Ron Cathey will contact Dr. King and ask him to do the presentation.
