Call to Order: Patsy Bourgeois
The May 14, 2007 meeting of the University Senate was called to order at
4:07 p.m. in Ropp Center, Room 105, by President Patsy Bourgeois.

Jim King addressed the Senate about the proposed new structures and walkways for Louisiana Tech. Also discussed were the new sites being considered for the tennis courts and pools. Drawings of the proposed improvements were shown. A question and answer session followed.

Roll Call: Rose Butler
Senators absent from the meeting: Gene Johnson, David Mills, Jan Fuller, Andrei Paun, Bill Deese, Tabbetha Dobbins, Chester Wilson, Kate Perot, and Steele Moegle.

Adoption of Agenda
A motion was made to accept the agenda. The motion was seconded and approved.

Adoption of Minutes
A motion was made to accept the April 24, 2007 minutes. The motion was seconded and approved.

Treasurer’s Report - no report

Announcements
            A. Faculty Advisory Council/Board of Supervisors - Patsy Bourgeois attended the meeting at ULL. Main discussion focused
                 on safety of campuses. Moogle was discussed. Moogle is used at ULL, but it was phased in over a year. Blackboard
                 price continues to increase. SLU is doing a pilot with Moogle.
                 The hiring of Coach Rupp was approved.
                 Summer budget was approved.
            B. Administrative and Planning Council - no report

Unfinished Business
            A. CITDL
                 Debra Blackman addressed the Senate. A subcommittee is looking at options beside Blackboard. The committee will
                 continue to work over the summer on this issue

B. Election
The election for the Senate Chair Award and the Virgil Orr Junior Faculty Award was held.

C. Office Election
The Senate voted on the 07-08 officers with the results being:

Debra Blackman - Vice President

Ron Cathey - Treasurer

Rob Bremer - Parliamentarian

                 Mark Shoemaker - Webmaster
            D. Turn It In.com - Aziz Saber met with committee members for about 2 months on this. He has turned in a report to Dr. Rea
                 and also gave a demonstration of this website to department heads. CADS may vote on whether to accept this use of
                 this website at the May 15, 2007 meeting. Senate members were asked to speak with their Deans and express their
                 support of this site, which will connect to Blackboard.

Voluntary Remarks
           A. Saul Zalesch asked if Tech Drive could be repaired. He also asked who is in charge of doing repairs. This will be an issue
                for next year.

                Patsy Bourgeois thanked the Senate and the Executive Committee members for their help throughout the year.

                Rose Butler, outgoing secretary, was presented with a gift. The incoming secretary, Marie Pipes, was introduced.
