The continuing goals for the Web Committee are:
- Create a web policy and procedure and post it on the site for compliance by ALL areas of Tech's campus.
- One of our directives is to provide a website that consistently delivers Tech's image from site to site. Common logo usage, common color usage, etc. In order to achieve this, we must create
a web publication standard and procedure and publish it as an official Tech policy.
- We have OmniUpdate - a web content management tool that we should expand use of to
aid us in the application of this new policy which will surely increase our success rate.
Our guideline recommendations were included in a new policy suggested by the Campus Computing Committee. We are awaiting
the final approval and posting of that policy so that we can link directory to it from here.
- Build the site to be compatible with the requirements for web accessability for the disabled.
Utilizing text driven menu systems and printer friendly pages we hope to be providing the most
globally user friendly pages possible. If you have suggestions, recommendations or needs that are not being met, please
e-Mail us and we will do everything possible to
accommodate your suggestion/need.
- Upgrade the directory and search functions used on the Tech website to provide more accurate search results.
A more select site search has been implemented in addition to an alphabetic A-Z list that seems quite popular. That same
search logic has been installed on individual sites for specific/detailed searching within larger sites (i.e. registrar, Applied and Natural Sciences,
Engineering and Science, Graduate School).
The faculty/staff directory has been upgraded to utilize real-time update capabilities. Previously, the maintainable version had to be copied over to
the read-only version on a regular basis. Now, all updates to the directory are available immediately - no copying
required. This logic has also been utilized on the Engineering and Science site and Applied and Natural Sciences for
their college specific directories as well.
