He has contributed to multiple funded projects supported by USDA, DHS, NIH, and Cotton Incorporated, and his research has appeared in journals such as Expert Systems With Applications, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Computers in Biology and Medicine, and Smart Agricultural Technology. Prior to joining the faculty at Louisiana Tech, Dr. Moore was a Thermal Advisory Engineer for IBM’s Systems & Technology Group from 2011 to 2013 where he designed and developed electronics thermal management solutions from the die level up to full server systems. In addition to academic publications, Dr. Moore is inventor or co-inventor on over a dozen patents or patent applications related to thermal management. He is a 2019 National Science Foundation CAREER Awardee and currently serves on the advisory board of Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics.  Dr. Moore graduated with his B. S. in mechanical engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 2001, followed by his Master’s and Ph. D. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and 2010, respectively. During his time in graduate school he worked in the fields of thermoelectric nanostructures, nanoscale energy transport physics, and advanced thermal conductivity characterization of supported and suspended graphene while publishing in such journals as Nano Letters, Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Heat Transfer, Physical Review B, and Science. He attended the University of Florida and received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 2001. Later that year, he began graduate school at M.I.T.  His thesis research focused on photoresponsive surfactants, which are specially-designed molecules which change their shape when light conditions change and thereby cause changes in solution properties such as surface tension and viscosity.  Sometime during his undergraduate studies, he decided that he wanted to eventually pursue an academic career.  While in graduate school, he had opportunities to assist in teaching courses and found that he really enjoyed teaching and interacting with students.  These positive experiences reinforced his desire to teach and led him to seek out faculty positions at colleges and universities with a strong emphasis on education.  Louisiana Tech impressed him with its commitment to teaching, and so after completing his Ph.D. in the spring of 2007, he moved to Ruston to join its faculty. Dr. Cicciarelli is a Lecturer in both the Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Programs.  He has taught several classes in the thermal sciences area (thermodynamics, heat transfer, etc.) as well as chemical engineering undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses and a graduate level course in transport phenomena.  He has enjoyed his experience at Tech thus far and appreciates the opportunity to work with engineering students from different backgrounds. She conducts research in the field of experimental precision electroweak measurements at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Virginia. She is an instructor in physics and also the lab-coordinator and TA supervisor of the sophomore physics labs. Buddhini completed her undergraduate degree in engineering physics at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2002, and her doctorate in Physics from Ohio University, Athens, OH in 2013. She then joined Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility as a Hall C postdoctoral fellow working on the 12 GeV upgrades and in 2015 moved on to work at Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois as a senior postdoctoral fellow. His research has been published in the Journal of Macroeconomics, Applied Economics, the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Empirical Economics. Currently his research examines optimal monetary policy models, interest rate determination, the asymmetric response of monetary policy, and the time inconsistency of optimal policy. Additionally he studies Bayesian econometrics, multivariate time series analysis, forecasting, and state-space models.  Patrick teaches macroeconomics, monetary theory, and research methods at Tech. Patrick came to the Louisiana Tech family in the fall quarter of 2016. Previously he was an assistant professor of economics at Missouri State University. He graduated with his Ph.D. in economics from Kansas State University in 2013 with primary fields in monetary economics and econometrics. He studied at the undergraduate level at the University of South Alabama, graduating in 2008.Patrick lives in Ruston, Louisiana with his wife, Suzanna, and his daughter, Lizzie. I still carry out some research, which is primarily computational in nature, including the study of phase equilibria, properties of aqueous interfaces, polymer structure and properties, but more lately, I have been primarily working on solid-state systems. These include investigating battery electrodes, ceramic-metal interfaces, complex conjugated alloys, shape memory polymers, and developing molecular models, algorithms, and automated codes for these. Mike has three decades of experience in the field of higher education, has co-founded two high tech startups over the past two decades, and has fifteen issued US patents to his name. Dr. O’Neal received his BS (Magna Cum Laude, 1982) and MS (1984) from Louisiana Tech University, and his Ph.D. (1989) from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. In the 1999 to 2001 timeframe Mike was Co-Founder and CTO of OneNetNow.com, a community-based web portal focused on the urban community, which was acquired by EarthLink in 2001. From 2001 to 2012 Mike was Co-Founder and CTO of Network Foundation Technologies, a company focused on distributed broadcast technologies. Dr. O’Neal’s academic research interests include active authentication using behavioral biometrics, computer science education, artificial intelligence, and distributed online broadcast technologies. During my time with Amar, I learned the ins and outs of anion binding by working with cyanostar created by Semin Lee (now a professor at LSU). Upon graduating she joined the Department of Academic Enrichment at UCSD and became the coordinator for the Minority Science Program. Thereafter, she earned her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University in 1999. Her thesis research concentrated on solid oxide fuel cells for low-temperature operation and hydrocarbon fuel utilization. She joined the Physical and Environmental Sciences Department at Ford Motor Company in 2000 where her research activities focused on exhaust gas sensing. In 2010, she joined the Institute for Micromanufacturing that is a part of the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University. He also serves as head of instrumental music education. Formerly, Dr. Lyons was as an assistant band director in the Missouri public schools where he taught percussion and conducted beginning and intermediate bands. As a solo and ensemble performer, he has made appearances in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Michigan, and California including performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention's Technology Day and the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy. He is principal percussionist with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra (Alexandria, LA) and has also performed with the Shreveport Symphony, Monroe Symphony, Texarakana Symphony (TX), West Shore Symphony (MI), and Lansing Symphony (MI). Dr. Lyons is the co-coordinator and co-founder of New Music on the Bayou, a contemporary summer music festival formed in 2016. He also coordinates the North Louisiana Youth Percussion Ensemble Festival at Louisiana Tech. He is past president and current treasurer of the Louisiana Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, and is a proud endorser of Grover Pro Percussion, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, SABIAN Cymbals and Majestic Percussion.Gregory Cain BuddsFacultyMusicCollege of Liberal Artscbudds@LATech.edu318.257.3655HCPA 329Cain Budds received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in classical guitar performance at Arizona State University where he was a student of Frank Koonce. While in residence there, he served as a teaching assistant and faculty associate in the internationally recognized classical guitar program. In addition to his teaching duties, he assisted in the editing of the second performing edition: Johann Sebastian Bach: The Solo Lute Works, by Professor Koonce which was recently published by Neil A. Kjos company in San Diego. He received his Bachelor and Master's degrees from Illinois State University where he studied with noted performer and teacher Dr. Angelo Favis. Dr. Budds also studied guitar with Professor Manley Mallard III at Millikin University as well as with Dr. Douglas Rubio of the Crane School of Music, State University of New York at Potsdam. Dr. Budds is currently Associate Professor of Guitar and Music Theory as well as Head of the String Area at Louisiana Tech University where he heads a vibrant guitar studio. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Head of the guitar studio at The University of Louisiana at Monroe. He has held several additional teaching positions including North Valley School of the Arts in Scottsdale and Southwestern College in Phoenix. He also served as a member of the music faculty at Glendale Community College from 1998-2000 and Professor of Guitar at Laredo Community College from 2002-2008. He has performed numerous solo and chamber recitals in the U.S. and Mexico and in Master Classes with outstanding performers including Eliot Fisk, Flavio Cucchi, Paul Henry, William Kanengiser, Margarita Escarpa, Kevin Gallagher, Stephen Robinson, Javier Garcia-Moreno, and Pepe Romero. Budds has appeared as soloist with the Laredo Philharmonic performing contemporary works such as Folias by Puerto Rican composer Roberto Sierra and Arafura Dances by Australian composer Ross Edwards. Most recently he appeared as soloist with Moscow's Chamber Orchestra Kremlin performing Mauro Giuliani's Quinetto, Op. 65 for guitar and string orchestra. Budds' research project for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree is titled Nikita Koshkin: Insights into Compositional Process and Style. My graduate worked focused on understanding the role of transcription factors and signaling pathways in directing and determining fate of stem cells. I continue that line of research at Louisiana Tech University looking at transcriptional complexes, signaling pathways, and external environment to determine how various factors influence human adult stem cell self-renewal and differentiation potential. My passion lies not just in conducting research, but also in teaching others to be critical thinkers, effective communicators, and supportive colleagues. To that end, I have a vibrant lab of undergraduate and graduate students who work closely together to perform experiments, present research at meetings, and train new students who enter the group. In addition to teaching and research in the School of Biological Sciences, I am also part of an interdisciplinary collaboration with the art department. This partnership encourages faculty and students to think and communicate visually and offers students the opportunity to combine their own passion for art and science. Prior to returning to the TTC, he served as Water Market Sector and Pipe Renewal Service Line Manager at Pure Technologies. Prior to Pure, he served as Battelle’s Water Infrastructure Management Lead, leading numerous water infrastructure studies. Prior to Battelle, he led multiple projects while at the TTC as a Research Associate relating to the development of automated decision support systems. He has given more than 200 conference presentations and authored more than 300 publications. He is active in the International (ISTT) and North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He also serves on several boards including the ISTT Board of Directors and the Editorial Board for Trenchless Technology magazine. Kirk's academic and consulting work focuses on -- Health and medical communication-- Usability and user experience design-- International and intercultural communication -- Online education and training with a focus on instructional designHe also researches international virtual workplaces, online aspects of public health communication/health literacy, international outsourcing/offshoring, and the effects of globalization on online education. Kirk has previously worked on international projects for companies such as Medtronic, VERITAS Software, the Braun Corporation, and Unisys. He has also worked on international projects for non-profit organizations including the Humanitarian Demining Information Center (HDIC) and the Consortium for the Enhancement of Ukrainian Management Education (CEUME). Building on her doctoral dissertation on American Collegiate Gothic architecture, her scholarship now employs a tripartite framework that merges architectural narrative, memoryscape, and postcolonial critique to read the campus as a palimpsest—a landscape of layered, and often contradictory, historical narratives. Her case studies investigate the American campus as contested space, exploring the town-gown politics of the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning; the deterministic social goals of Frederick Law Olmsted's landscape designs; the collegiate campus as a geopolitical “contact zone”; and Duke University's campus as a palimpsest where competing histories of race, power, and memory are inscribed and contested. Recently, Springer's research has expanded to address contemporary issues of public history and pedagogy. In addition to her work on U.S. campuses, she analyzes the ethical design philosophy guiding the Equal Justice Initiative's Legacy Sites as a model for equitable memoryscapes. Simultaneously, her pedagogical scholarship challenges traditional teaching methods and argues for non-linear, inclusive, and thematic curricula in global art and design history. A devoted arts and preservation advocate, Springer currently serves as Vice President of SESAH (Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians), having previously served as state representatives for both Louisiana and Alabama. Her scholarly interests in social memory also inform her practice as a landscape artist. Through painting, printmaking, and drawing, she explores how land acts as a mimetic device for social memory and cultural identity. Beginning her career here in 2000, she is the head of four areas: piano studies, collaboration/accompanying, Music History, and Music Appreciation. Her teaching responsibilities include Applied Piano, Music History, and Honors Music Appreciation. A doctoral graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, Dr. Moegle has studied performing, coaching, and collaborative techniques with internationally known pianists and coaches, such as Robert Spillman, Larry Graham, Mutsumi Moteki, and Constance Carroll. She has performed at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Middle Tennessee State University, Centenary College, Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of Alabama. Her students continually seek outside performance and competitive opportunities. Most recently, she worked with piano majors to prepare and perform George Crumb’s Music for a Summer Evening (Makrokosmos III). Each spring her piano students participate in a Piano Studio Recital, performing solo and duo works. Piano majors also hear a professional piano guest artist each year, and piano students have the opportunity to learn from the artist in a piano masterclass. Along with performing and teaching, Dr. Moegle enjoys researching women in music and American popular music. Her current focus includes the female composers Cécile Chaminade, Amy Beach, and Lili Boulanger. She also enjoys studying popular music, popular music performers, and Broadway musicals. She has presented papers at Tech’s Liberal Arts Symposium, the Southern Chapter Conference of the College of Music Society, and at an international musicological conference in Struga, Macedonia. Dr. Moegle has served as Louisiana Tech Concert Association (LTCA) Director since 2022. During her time as director, she has arranged for Louisiana Tech to host Roomful of Teeth and Sandbox Percussion the same year they were awarded Grammys. Hosting these Grammy winners was a first for LTCA. Through her efforts, she also had the first full-length album performed on Howard Stage. Each season, she coordinates bringing a wide array of professional concert artists and performing groups that perform for and work with Louisiana Tech students. From 2022-2025, Dr. Moegle served as Interim Director of the School of Music. As director, she spearheaded the hiring of six full-time faculty members; four of those positions are tenure-track. While continuing her full-time teaching duties, Dr. Moegle worked tirelessly to improve teaching and performing spaces at Tech, providing new acoustic sound shells, updating the technology in teaching spaces, and supporting music students’ travel for additional educational experiences. For the first time in the School of Music history, music students attended the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Conference and a Songwriters trip to Nashville, Tennessee. Collaborating with faculty, Dr. Moegle also refined and expanded the School of Music curriculum offerings adding several new courses. In October 2025, Louisiana piano teachers elected her to serve as the Louisiana Music Teachers Association (LMTA) President-Elect. She has also served as Ruston Area Music Teachers Association (RAMTA) President for two terms. Through Music Teachers National Association, Dr. Moegle is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). Additionally, Dr. Moegle is frequently in demand as an adjudicator, having judged at local, state, and regional competitions. For well over a decade, Dr. Moegle has served on the board of directors for Ruston Community Theatre (RCT). Since 2015, she has served various roles on the RCT Executive Board, including president. While serving as RCT president, Dr. Moegle directed the first RCT Youth Production, which has spawned a burgeoning group of young actors and singers. RCT’s youth productions have grown exponentially since then. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of South Carolina and became a Joint Faculty between Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State University in 2004.Dr. Derosa’s group main interest is the multiscale modeling of organic conductors. A hopping model is used to describe conductivity in polymer but parameters necessary at this scale are obtained from calculations at smaller scales.  He is currently extending his research into nanocomposites. His research focuses on integrating advanced materials and materials processing techniques into multifunctional microelectrochemical sensors, electrodes and devices for neurochemical and biological sensing, wastewater remediation and pathogen detection and single cell probing. After receiving his PhD degree from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, he performed postdoctoral training in University Affiliated Research Center at NASA Ames Research Center, California, developing carbon nanotube-based biosensors. He was a Senior Research Scientist at Advanced Diamond Technologies, a spin-off from Argonne National Laboratory, where he commercialized ultrananocrystalline diamond-enabled electrochemical microarray sensors and mixed oxidant and ozone generators. He initiated and managed several collaborative research projects by securing research funding from various national agencies and industry. He serves as a science advisor to startups and founded a startup to provide electrochemical technology solutions to industry. He has published 29 peer-reviewed articles and 2 book chapters, received five patents and presented the research findings in numerous national and international conferences. He enrolled in Ohio University in the Fall of 2007 as a graduate student after completing a bachelor's degree in science with a physics major and chemistry and mathematics as minor subjects from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka where he is a native. He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in nuclear experimental physics in May of 2013. Rakitha then started as a research associate with Syracuse University, stationed at Jefferson Lab. His main research interests include precision tests of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, the search for new physics beyond the SM, and the study of nuclear medium effects on bound quarks. Applications include the improvement of Doppler ultrasound instruments for velocity measurement, modeling of pressure-flow relationships in the vascular access grafts used for dialysis, and modeling of the effects of transport and flow on the positive feedback and negative feedback control mechanisms for platelet activation and adhesion. His primary research interests are the structure and dynamics of DNA and chromatin and how they relate to genetic function and disfunction (e.g. transcription, regulation, replication and repair). He studies molecular events in the hormone response mechanism as a model system for this research. He has developed a multiscale model of chromatin that bridges between atomic and continuum scales. Dr. Bishop has received support for this research from the Louisiana Board of Regents, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
