Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Monday morning.
As we begin the fourth week of classes, we continue to work to keep our campus community health and safe with our behavior in and out of the classroom. Just as we wear masks and practice physical distancing during class and in labs and studios, we must practice these behaviors off campus and at home.
Free COVID-19 Testing
We are all responsible for working to keep each other healthy. One of the important ways we can do that is to take advantage of the free testing opportunity that will be offered through this week. The Louisiana Army National Guard will continue to offer screening tests from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Argent Pavilion.
Remember that registering ahead of time will help speed things along. Register online at https://www.doineedacovid19test.com/Ruston_LA_1462.html and print your testing voucher ahead of time.
We’re now enjoying cooler temperatures and fall weather, but with fall and winter come the risk of getting the flu. While the flu circulates year round, activity tends to peak between December and February. According to the CDC, September and October are good times to get a flu vaccine.
The flu and COVID-19 are both viruses, and they pose an increased risk for certain individuals with other health conditions. The flu vaccine, however, can provide protection for at-risk individuals.
We will soon announce an opportunity to receive flu vaccinations on campus, and there are currently several locations in the City of Ruston where you can get the flu shot as well. To learn more about where you can get your flu shot, visit our online vaccination page.
Lady Techsters and Dunkin’ Dogs
I had the opportunity to stop by the Thomas Assembly Center on Friday and watch the Lady Techsters and Dunkin’ Dogs during their practices on Friday. I’m looking forward to watching these student athletes this winter. Get ready for some exciting basketball in the TAC!
I hope everyone has a productive week. Please continue to wear your masks, wash your hands, and focus in and out of the classroom.
