Dear campus community,
Good Thursday morning, Bulldogs.
We’ve almost completed our third week of online classes, and I’m getting much (well… somewhat) better at Zoom meetings and Moodle. I hope all of you are settling into a better at-home routine and still practicing social distancing. That is so important!
We’ve had lots of questions related to our announcement yesterday that we would be offering the Pass Option for classes this quarter. Taking this option could have impacts on graduate or professional school admission, financial aid, honor roll, and other areas, so we wanted to be able to answer as many questions as possible.
We’ve started a Frequently Asked Questions page on the latech.edu/coronavirus website. I encourage you to peruse this document and then discuss any decisions with your academic advisor. They can help you determine if requesting the Pass Option is right for you and your future. We will update that site as we get additional questions and answers.
We announced yesterday that we would be postponing our commencement for the Spring 2020 class. I know that some of you may have already purchased caps and gowns. If you wish to return them, please email our campus bookstore at Sm8001@bncollege.com. The good news is that you can use them for our future celebration also.
If you haven’t ordered your graduation regalia, you can do so later for our alternative graduation.
Student Relief Fund
Our alumni and friends are among some of the most generous and caring individuals. When this global pandemic started, and Louisiana Tech had to adapt to the new normal, many called us and asked how they could help our students.
While novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a profound impact around the globe, it’s also creating challenges for our students. The Student Relief Fund provides immediate assistance and helps keep students on track. We will keep you informed about other potential relief for students from the federal stimulus as that becomes clearer.
Keep focused on your studies. Do your best each and every day, regardless of the circumstances. Reach out for help from your faculty, advisors and counselors. You can do this!
Let’s finish the week strong, and remember – wash your hands!
