Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Saturday morning.
Yesterday was a big day for Louisiana Tech University and LA Tech Athletics. We introduced our new Athletics Director and Vice President Dr. Eric Wood and his family to the Tech Family. Dr. Wood and his wife Celia have four children – Eliana (10), Nia (8), Alyssa (6) and Elijah (4).
Eric comes to Louisiana Tech from the University of Central Florida, where he is Deputy Athletic Director for Competitive Excellence. He has served in a variety of roles within athletics administration for more than two decades.
Interacting with Eric quickly convinces you he is a dynamic, charismatic individual who leads with intelligence and character. It’s a rare combination, and we’re very fortunate to have him on our team.
Please take a few minutes to watch this video to meet Eric. I look forward to the impact his leadership will make for our campus.
Winter 2020 accommodations
As we prepare for the Winter Quarter, we’ve put in place a process to continue accommodations for those who wish to continue their Fall 2020 work arrangements.
Faculty and staff who wish to renew their Fall Quarter COVID-19 accommodations for the Winter Quarter should send an email request to renew the accommodations to their immediate supervisor. If the supervisor approves the renewal, the request should then be forwarded to the dean/division head for final approval. All renewals should then be forwarded by the deans/division heads to Human Resources for their records.
COVID-19 testing continues
The Louisiana Army National Guard will continue free COVID-19 testing at the Argent Alumni Pavilion. Screening tests will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow. Registering ahead of time will help speed things along. Visit https://www.doineedacovid19test.com/Ruston_LA_1462.html to register and print your testing voucher ahead of time.
Today, the Bulldogs will battle UTSA in San Antonio at 7 p.m. The game will be available on ESPNU; let’s all tune in to cheer on our Bulldogs!
I hope everyone has a great weekend planned with plenty of rest. Please remember we’ll begin advising next week, so contact your academic advisor to set up a time to meet soon for Winter 2020 planning.
