Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Tuesday morning.
As we continue to make adjustments to our daily lives because of the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the things our faculty and staff have focused on is the mental health of all members of our campus community.
Dealing with uncertainty and change has caused many students, faculty, and staff to battle anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Many of us continue to feel isolated and stressed, but there is help available on our campus.
Louisiana Tech’s Counseling Services provides a variety of mental-health services. Counseling is available online via Zoom, just call 318.257.2488 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment.
All of us are here to listen and help when other members of our Tech Family are hurting. Please reach out to others if you need help, and check on others to see if you can offer assistance.
Theatre on Twitch
Many of our academic programs have been forced to adapt as we’ve observed gathering limits and engaged in online coursework. This fall, the School of Theatre has found a way to engage with audiences online, helping to keep our student-actors and audiences safe and healthy.
Tonight at 7:30, Tech Theatre will present its fall Theatre Showcase. The event, an eccentric blend of original and developing works, all written and produced by students in Tech’s playwriting and beginning and advanced acting classes, will be broadcast on Twitch at 7:30 each night through Friday.
Twitch is a new and popular streaming app that began as a way for video gamers to allow fans to watch them play. It can be set up as an account for pay-per-view or to solicit donations, but the Theatre Showcase is a free event.
I know I’ll be tuning in (https://www.twitch.tv/TechTheatreDept) to see our students perform, and you can call 318.257.3942 for more information on the performances.
Remember that the Louisiana Army National Guard will conduct COVID-19 screening tests from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Argent Alumni Pavilion. Registering ahead of time will help speed things along. Register online at https://www.doineedacovid19test.com/Ruston_LA_1462.html and print your testing voucher ahead of time.
