Dear Tech Family,
Good Saturday morning.
At 10 a.m. today, we will hold the second commencement ceremony for our Fall 2020 class, and tomorrow, we’ll celebrate our spring and summer graduates will ceremonies at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. We’re requiring masks and adherence to physical distancing guidelines for those who attend.
Please remember only those friends and family who have tickets will be able to attend the events in the Thomas Assembly Center. We encourage everyone to watch the event live on our Facebook page (facebook.com/LATech).
Tech Donor Disaster Relief Scholarships
Our alumni and friends of Louisiana Tech have demonstrated how much they care about the victims of Hurricane Laura by organizing clean-up efforts, contributing to drives for food and materials, and by giving to the Louisiana Tech Student Relief Fund. This fund was originally established in the aftermath of the April 2019 tornado and stands ready to provide help for those who need it most.
At this time, the University has 30 scholarships for $500 available to award. Sunday is the deadline for applying for our Tech Donor Disaster Relief Scholarships.
If you are a student whose family has been impacted by Hurricane Laura and you need financial assistance, please complete the Tech Donor Disaster Relief Scholarship application online at latech.academicworks.com.
If you have not already completed a general scholarship application in Academic Works, you will need to do so before completing the Tech Donor Disaster Relief Scholarship. Students will be notified by email from the Office of Financial Aid if they have received an award once all applications have been reviewed.
We continue to adjust the process for free COVID-19 testing conducted by the Louisiana Army National Guard at the Argent Alumni Pavilion.
You can register for testing in one of two ways:
- See a staff person to help you register on-site using equipment they provide.
- Register yourself online at Health.QuestDiagnostics.com/STLOU.
To get your test results by phone, call 1.866.MYQUEST (1.866.697.8378) and be prepared to identify yourself or your child as a self-collect patient to the Quest representative. Parents can obtain results only for minor children under the age of 18. You can call from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday for your results. You can also download the MyQuest app and receive them there.
I hope you join me in wishing this weekend’s graduates the best as they go out and make a positive impact on our world. Thank you all for being part of the Tech Family. Go Dogs!
