Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Wednesday morning.
Can you believe we have just three more class days in 2020? I hope everyone will have the opportunity to relax during the break. Please remember to continue our good health and safety measures while you are away. Wear your mask, wash your hands, and practice physical distancing so we can all come back to campus in January.
With the new calendar year, Louisiana Tech will begin using Workday for all human resources and finance functions. We have been preparing for this moment for several years, and many of our faculty and staff have been engaging in training for the roll-out. All of our business operations will be moving to Workday, so it is essential that ALL faculty and staff learn to use this system.
Login to Workday will utilize the University’s authentication system (CAS), and this system requires the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA) in the process. You may currently use CAS to log in to Moodle, Zoom, Corestream, Workday, Mediasite, Forms, or other University systems. MFA provides an additional layer of protection for your account in the event that your password is compromised. Enrollment is simple, and in the most common usage, requires confirming the login through an app on your smartphone.
We have about 500 employees who have not already implemented MFA for their CAS logins. You must have MFA activated before you are required to log in to the Workday system for the first time.
To activate MFA, login to the website http://mfa.latech.edu/ (login is through the CAS SSO login using your email/moodle password). Clicking the YES button at the bottom of the page enables MFA on your account. Click the logout button to end the session and begin a new one. On the subsequent login, you will be prompted to enroll your phone or tablet as the secondary authentication device.
For assistance with this process, please contact the Help Desk at 5300 or HelpDesk@latech.edu.
Testing before break
Remember that COVID-19 testing can help you better protect vulnerable family members, so schedule a test today.
Free PCR testing at the Argent Alumni Pavilion will continue through the end of this year. The Louisiana Army National Guard will take time off Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31 through Jan. 1. They will be providing testing for most of the holiday break, however.
The site is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the link to register for testing is http://health.questdiagnostics.com/STLOU. Results from this test have been available in two to three days.
Free antigen testing will also continue at Green Clinic’s TechCare location at the Lambright Wellness Center. With this test, results will be available within 30 minutes. Antigen testing – the “quick test” – is most effective when the patient is displaying symptoms that are representative of COVID-19 but could also indicate another viral infection.
The clinic is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted until 3:45 p.m. You should schedule your free test through TechCare’s online scheduling system at: https://gctechcare.simplybook.me/v2/#book.
