Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Friday morning.
Next week, we will begin the advising period to help students prepare for the Spring 2021 quarter. I know everyone has had a busy and productive Winter Quarter, and advising seems to begin the rush toward finals, commencement exercises, and a short break.
If you have not already scheduled your advising appointment, please contact your advisor soon to do so.
In his press conference yesterday, Governor Edwards informed us that the more contagious U.K. strain of the coronavirus is known to be present in Louisiana and will likely spread rapidly. Let’s let that news recommit us to diligence in mask wearing, social distancing, and testing. The vaccines are still being distributed in Louisiana but are currently restricted for health care and nursing home residents and workers and people over the age of 70. We know the vaccines will be available for broader groups, but don’t have a timeline at this point.
Let’s set a record for COVID-19 testing for today and next week! For those who have not tested recently, please do so. For those who have tested, make plans to get another test very soon.
Free PCR testing at the Argent Alumni Pavilion will continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday. The link to register for testing is http://health.questdiagnostics.com/STLOU.
TechCare in the Lambright Center will continue free antigen testing from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday, with a break for lunch. Schedule your free test at https://gctechcare.simplybook.me/v2/#book.
Let’s all continue to be vigilant about wearing masks and maintaining distance, Bulldogs. Continue to do your best to work for health and safety for our campus community.
Take time this weekend to rest before we begin the rush to the end of the quarter. I look forward to seeing you all next week!
