Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Friday morning.
As announced yesterday, we are currently anticipating severe winter weather this weekend and continuing into next week. The National Weather Service is predicting a winter mix Sunday afternoon and night and another potential round of winter weather with a mix of precipitation Wednesday. It is almost certain to be extremely cold this weekend and next week.
Extreme Cold + Precipitation = Hazardous Conditions on roads and walkways! Be Careful!
Classes will not be held Monday through Wednesday for our traditional Mardi Gras break. If severe weather in our area impacts the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, we will move to online class delivery Thursday and Friday if necessary. We will announce our decision to move online Tuesday if possible, and I ask that faculty prepare for the need to conduct courses online next week.
If you are traveling this weekend, take your time and be safe. We will post updates via email and text message, on the ERT.latech.edu website, and on our Louisiana Tech social media channels.
Testing at the Argent Alumni Pavilion will not be held Monday and Tuesday. At this time, testing is planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday next week. The link to register for testing is http://health.questdiagnostics.com/STLOU.
At this time, TechCare will be open. Free antigen testing will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday, with a break for lunch. Schedule your free test at https://gctechcare.simplybook.me/v2/#book.
Undergraduate Research Symposium
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Thursday, we will hold our annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. To ensure the health and safety of participants and judges, the event will be held online.
Though this format is different, it provides more family members and friends the opportunity to cheer on their favorite researcher. I encourage everyone to register and learn more about our innovative student researchers.
