Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Wednesday morning.
As our students begin preparing for advising for the summer and fall quarters, I’d like to take some time to thank our dedicated faculty and staff who serve as mentors and guides for our students. Their dedication to ensuring that our students stay engaged and making progress toward their academic goals is so very important at this time.
I appreciate everything all members of our Tech Family are doing to ensure we stay the course. Keep it up. Keep working in your classes. Keep innovating as you work at home or in an essential function on campus. Maintain physical distancing guidelines, and keep practicing good hygiene. It’s working, but we have to maintain the course! We’ll be back together as a community on campus soon.
Anxiety group therapy
As we continue to move through this quarter, I know that many of our students – and even our faculty and staff – may be experiencing significant anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Every change that has happened in the past month can add to the stress we are all carrying, and that’s why our Counseling Center has added a new online group therapy program focused on anxiety.
The sessions will be hosted on our platform of Zoom, and they will continue throughout the quarter. The group will begin meeting at 5 p.m. April 20.
If this resource can help you adjust emotionally or psychologically, I encourage you to take advantage of this or one of the many other programs that the Counseling Center is offering. Call 318.257.2488 to sign up for these group sessions.
Our Career Center is available to help students in one of its new online workshops in helping students choose career paths. The Center is providing more online resources than ever to meet the needs of students.
To begin the process, you should log into Handshake and select your workshop on the events page.
Once again, thank you all for everything you do each day to make Louisiana Tech such a strong and wonderful community. I look forward to talking to you through social media and online – and to seeing each of you in person soon.
