Dear Tech Family,
Good Tuesday morning.
Yesterday was Louisiana Tech’s second annual Giving Day, and I have two words to say:
In just about 24 hours generous students, faculty, staff members, alumni, friends, and corporate partners donated more than $900,000 to our University.
Through their caring, generosity, and commitment to excellence, donors honored Louisiana Tech with nearly 1,400 individual gifts. Some of these donations were large, but a majority were smaller. Each of these gifts show the power of collaboration and cooperation – two things Louisiana Tech has in abundance.
I appreciate the commitment each of you have for our mission, and I look forward to seeing where the next year leads us together.
Shelter in place extended
In his press conference yesterday, Gov. John Bel Edwards extended his Stay at Home mandate until May 15. He stated that Louisiana was not seeing enough progress to meet the federal standard designed to show when a state could move into phased re-opening of businesses.
Louisiana Tech will continue to practice telework for employees until it is safe for us to return to campus.
Our Incident Response Team is currently working through plans for bringing faculty and staff back to campus when it is safe. These plans will certainly involve some adjustments for all of us, and we will share more information when we are able to do so. Rest assured, we will continue to work to ensure the safety and health of all our community members.
Please be sure to check with your advisors and get ready to register for your Summer and Fall Quarters. Remember, we have some scholarships and waivers to help reduce the costs for you during the summer.
Once again, thank you for your hard work and dedication to Tech. Keep practicing physical distancing and washing your hands, and we’ll be together soon.
