Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Thursday morning.
With just about two weeks left in the quarter, I suspect the remaining days left in Spring 2020 will fly by.
Thank you all for continuing to register for Summer and Fall classes. We’ve already had to add a second section of SPCH 205 – Introduction to Sign Language and other sections of ENGL 303 – Technical Writing for summer, so I know you all are finding the electives and requirements you need. Please let your Dean’s Office or academic advisor know if a class fills up that you need. If there is a demand, we may be able to open another section to accommodate more students. We are very interested in knowing what you need for your academic progress and career goals. Don’t forget about the scholarships and other benefits being offered for the Summer.
As we announced in April, we will be celebrating the graduating class of Spring 2020 with a commencement ceremony on Aug. 15. We do not have the exact time of the ceremony yet, as we do not know exactly how many events we will have to hold. Please rest assured, we will hold as many ceremonies as needed in order to safely celebrate each Spring 2020 graduate who wants to walk at commencement. It will be a great day!
Also rest assured that Spring 2020 graduates will have their degrees conferred officially on May 23 as we had already planned. That means you will be a Louisiana Tech graduate on that date, but we’ll seize the opportunity to formally celebrate you again in August.
In the video we released in April, we announced that we’d have some special excitement for you on May 23. Please watch our official Louisiana Tech social media channels at 10 a.m. May 23 – the official time when we were scheduled to begin our first Spring 2020 ceremony – for a surprise!
Until that day – and after May 23 as well – we’ll be sharing a plethora of special opportunities to celebrate being a Loyal Blue Tech graduate. Watch our official channels for ways to engage and share your Louisiana Tech Bulldog story. The first special opportunity announcement for graduating seniors from Athletics will be coming out today!
As always, Tech Family, thank you for your patience and perseverance this quarter. You have truly shown your pride in our campus community, no matter where you find yourself today.
I appreciate your continued efforts. Keep working, and finish the quarter strong. Forever Loyal!
