Dear Tech Family,
Good Sunday morning.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our students, faculty, and staff who are moms. This holiday can be challenging for some this year, but I hope we can all share love and hope with those who serve as role models and mentors today.
CARES Act grant deadline
As a reminder, the deadline for students to apply for Louisiana Tech’s CARES Act grant process is May 15 – this Friday. Take the time you need to complete the application this week so we can ensure that our students who have incurred expenses related to the disruption of campus operations because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Submit the online application here. Awarding of funds is made on a case-by-case basis, and decisions are considered final. You’ll be notified via your Louisiana Tech email address about awards or a need for additional information. Our staff are working to get the money to you as soon as possible.
Summer School – Level Up
Please remember to check out our Summer 2020 initiative – Use this Summer to Level Up. We’re offering special scholarships for both graduate and undergraduate students who choose to take summer courses, and we’re waiving online course fees for summer classes. We also anticipate that any CARES Act funds that are not granted this spring will be distributed to all qualified students during the summer. For most full-time students, the anticipated savings for online courses offered this summer should be over 15%. Those who are eligible for the TOPS Scholarship can also utilize that this summer.
To find out more about our special summer offerings – and to see our course schedule – visit latech.edu/summer. For those who have graduated and looking for something to do for the summer, there are some excellent opportunities to advance your careers with specialized tracks and graduate programs.
A little Lagniappe
I understand that the Lagniappe, Tech’s yearbook, is scheduled for delivery early this week. We will be developing a plan for you to be able to get yours while complying with our distancing guidelines. Stay tuned.
Have a wonderful day, Bulldogs. Take some time to enjoy the sunshine and prepare for next week.
