Dear campus community,
We’re finishing another week strong, and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the last week of classes for the Spring 2020 quarter. Just continue to work hard, keep your focus, get enough rest, and study for those finals. I’m sure you’ll do well!
Personally, I’m looking forward to 10:00 AM on May 23rd – a week from Saturday – when we’ll have the opportunity to celebrate our 2020 graduates. We’ve been working hard on a Tribute to the Class of 2020, and I know you’ve seen some of the lagniappe made just for our graduating seniors.
Speaking of Lagniappe, our Lagniappe yearbooks have been delivered. I hope to give you information early next week on how you can get yours.
If you haven’t, check out the new section of our website – latech.edu/graduation. That’s where you’ll continue to find details like the times for our Spring 2020 commencement ceremony planned for Aug. 15. We have not set specific times yet as we wait a while longer to evaluate the best plans for having a safe ceremony. I hope to see all our seniors and graduates there!
As a reminder, today is the last day this quarter to withdraw from a class with a W. To begin the process, complete the Drop/Add Form online.
Closing out the fiscal year
Our Finance and Human Resources staff will be working hard throughout the next month in order to close out the 2019-20 fiscal year. Faculty and staff members, please review the deadlines included in communication from Lisa Cole in mid-April. Thank you for following the procedures outlined there so our staff can continue to prepare for our University’s roll-out of the Workday system in early July. We ask that you limit any purchases to essential items from non-operating accounts only for the remainder of the year.
Don’t forget to get your applications in for CARES Act funds. Our Financial Aid office has been going through those applications you have submitted and have been issuing checks to all qualified students as quickly as possible. We anticipate having some additional funds available for students who come to summer school.
Thank you all for working so hard throughout this quarter. As we approach to the last week of the quarter, please take the time this weekend to rest and prepare for finals week. I look forward to hearing about all your success on finals very soon!
