Dear Tech Family,
Good Wednesday morning.
We have just a three days until we complete the Spring 2020 quarter. Continue to work and push toward your academic goals, stay focused and finish the quarter strong.
I have just a few quick updates and reminders for you today.
There has been a bit of confusion on the Pass Option and when it should be submitted to academic advisors for the first step in processing.
Graduating students have from today until Friday to submit the form to their academic advisors. Those students who are continuing should submit the form between May 27 and June 3. Both the pass option request form and our interim emergency policy specify that students should apply for the option after the final spring grades are posted. This gives you time to find out how well you did in a course first – sometimes we do better than we anticipated!
You’ll notice that the form has a section that requires your advisor’s signature. If you do not receive a response from your advisor after submitting the form, please contact the department chair for your academic program. They can assist in sending the form through the system.
The University has canceled the first purge payment deadline scheduled for this Friday in order to allow students additional time to pay their Summer Quarter tuition and fees. You will have until June 2 to complete payment. As a reminder, we anticipate awarding a CARES Act grant in addition to the $200 scholarship for all qualified students taking classes this summer.
If you have not paid by 5 p.m. June 2, your classes will be canceled for nonpayment. If you are only registered for second session courses – no first-session or full-session courses – your payment deadline is 4:30 p.m. July 14.
Lagniappe pick up
With the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve had to be innovative in the way we get our Louisiana Tech yearbooks – the Lagniappe – to students.
Barnes & Noble at Louisiana Tech will serve as a distribution point for the 2020 Lagniappe. The bookstore will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each weekday, starting today. You can pick up your yearbook there – just remember to maintain appropriate physical distancing and wear your masks.
I remind all graduating students to reserve the time slot this Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. for a special Tribute to the Class of 2020. We will send out more info soon! Keep checking your emails and social media.
Thank you for your attention today. Take time for a break or two this week as you refresh your mind and complete your finals. Keep working hard – we’re almost to the finish line!
