Dear Tech Family,
Good Friday morning.
We made it! Today is the last day of the Spring 2020 Quarter.
I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to a quarter break. We will be spending a lot of our time over the next few weeks in planning for what the summer and fall will bring for Louisiana Tech and our students, faculty, and staff.
One option that could have many benefits for almost everyone’s academic progress is taking summer courses. We still have spaces available in many classes. Plus, we have no online fees and special scholarships available for qualified students.
For instance, our Art, Music, Theater, and Dance Appreciation classes could help you fill a general education requirement, while Political Science and Sociology courses could fill another need in your curriculum. Economics classes that meet general education requirements are also available.
If you are planning to be a doctor, nurse, patient advocate, or many other careers in the health care industry, Spanish for the Medical Profession could help you become a better communicator in the future. If you have a career as a teacher planned, we’re offering several courses that are required for teacher preparation programs.
Several Biology courses, as well as Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology, are still open. Many of these courses are in high demand during the fall, winter, and spring quarters, so I encourage you to take them if you need – and are able – this summer.
As we begin to prepare to resume face-to-face classes for the fall quarter, I want to encourage you to continue to check your Tech email throughout the summer. We will share valuable updates on cleaning and sanitizing, events, and appropriate distancing behaviors throughout June, July, and August. We will also keep you updated on our plans for Fall Quarter.
You can also always check the Louisiana Tech coronavirus website – latech.edu/coronavirus. All the information we share each day is collected on that site.
Thank you for working hard to finish this quarter strong. Please take this long weekend and quarter break to rest and enjoy some time in the sun.
I hope everyone will join us at 10 a.m. tomorrow on our Facebook page and YouTube channel to help us celebrate our very special Class of 2020.
