Campus Update – Culture of Caring Commitment
Dear students, faculty, and staff,
Good Friday morning.
I hope you have an opportunity this weekend to enjoy a sunny weekend with some rest and relaxation.
We continue to work toward welcoming more students on campus this Fall Quarter, and many members of our student organizations asked how they could help their peers practice safe and healthy behaviors in the fall.
Our Student Nurses Association has stepped up to sponsor the Culture of Caring Commitment for students, faculty, and staff. The commitment is designed to encourage our campus community to practice healthy behaviors like physical distancing, wearing masks, and practicing good hygiene.
You can read and sign the commitment at bit.ly/PledgeCoC. I encourage you to join our students and pledge to protect yourself, our campus, and our community this fall. It takes a commitment from each one of us!
I’d like to thank these students for serving as healthcare leaders on our campus – true leadership that makes us all proud of our student body! Their continued dedication to the healthcare industry will greatly benefit their communities and workplaces in the future.
Thank you for your time this morning. Please remember to wear your masks and practice physical distancing. I look forward to seeing everyone back on campus soon.
University and System Guidelines
We have been working with our Board of Regents, our University of Louisiana System, and many other state and federal organizations to ensure that we have appropriate guidelines, plans, policies and practices in place to return to campus safely this Fall. Our UL System Guidelines ( https://www.ulsystem.edu/covid-19/) have served as the basis for Louisiana Tech (https://www.latech.edu/coronavirus/) and our other system institutions’ campus plans. These are continuously reviewed and updated as new information comes available, so I encourage you to check them out if you have questions.
I also provide updates to you through these regular email messages (over 100 since March 13), and they are communicated regularly through various forums that I have with Division Heads, Deans, Directors, and Department Heads and others. The Board of Regents COVID-19 website is located at https://regents.la.gov/covid19-response/.
Stay safe, and have a great weekend. Summer Quarter is almost over!
