Study Abroad
The Honors College encourages students to increase their global perspective by participating in study abroad. These programs combine classroom instruction with cross-cultural experience. Students from all five academic colleges are invited to participate; each study abroad destination offers unique course credits based on the faculty members leading the trip.
Student Testimonials
Studying abroad in Italy in 2023 was a transformative experience. Immersed in the rich history and vibrant culture, I gained new perspectives on the world and myself. From exploring ancient ruins to savoring authentic cuisine, every moment was a chance to learn and grow in ways I never imagined. I was able to gain many new friends, building lifelong relationships and memories that I will forever cherish!
The vibrant culture, rich history, and welcoming community have made every day an adventure. I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself in the Spanish language, explore stunning architecture, and enjoy the delicious local cuisine. The friendships I’ve formed with both local students and fellow international peers have enriched my understanding of different perspectives. This experience has not only enhanced my academic journey, but also fostered personal growth and a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity.
I could not recommend the study abroad program more! There is no better experience to further your education and yourself as a person. Living in Costa Rica made me into such a better Spanish speaker, but it also taught me so much about culture, other perspectives, and about how we interact with the world around us!
Study abroad was life-changing. We read poetry by some of the greats, like T. S. Eliot and William Blake, and then were able to see the places that inspired their work. The trip included 3 weeks in London and 2 weeks in Oxford. They’re not far from one another geographically but worlds apart in atmosphere. Staying in the dorms at Oxford college was probably my favorite part of the trip. The memories of my semester abroad and those I shared it with will be with me for the rest of my life, and I’m grateful to Louisiana Tech for giving me that experience!
