Move In Information

Fall 2024 Move-In

We are committed to providing you with a more personalized welcome to campus.  In order to do so, all residential students will need to book an appointment for move in.

Move in Appointment Details

Residents book a move-in appointment based on their residence hall or apartment. *All selection times begin at 10am on the day listed.*

  • July 2nd- Adams, Aswell, Dudley, and Graham.
  • July 3rd- Cottingham, Richardson, and Mitchell.
  • July 8th- Potts and Robinson.
  • July 9th- Park Place and Legacy Park.
  • July 10th- University Park.

Move in appointments will be scheduled for a 45-minute time slot for the dates listed below:

  • Wednesday, August 28th  8:30am – 2:30pm
  • Thursday, August 29th  8:30am – 2:30pm
  • Friday, August 30th  8:30 – 11:30am
  • Sunday, September 1st  10:30am – 2:30pm
  • Tuesday, September 3rd  10:30am – 2:30pm

Students will select an appointment based on the building in which they are currently assigned.  Each building will have a pre-selected number of appointment time slots per time.  A student may cancel their move in appointment up to 24 hours before their appointment time.  They may select an appointment time slot up to 24 hours prior to the time in which they are selecting. An email will be sent to your Louisiana Tech email address, once you select or cancel a time slot to confirm your booking.  If your room assignment changes after you have booked a move in appointment, you will need to select a new appointment that coincides with your newly assigned building.

What to Bring

Wondering what to bring to your new home? Here’s a quick list to help you get started! Also, it may help to talk to your roommate before you move in. This way you and your roommate can decide who is bringing what.

For your bedroom/bathroom:

  • Twin Size Sheets/ Comforter (Adams, Aswell, Dudley, and Graham – traditional residence halls)
  • Twin XL Size Sheets/Comforter (Robinson suites and Potts suites, Richardson and Cottingham halls, and Legacy Park)
  • Full Size Sheets/ Comforter (University Park and Park Place)
  • Pillows & Pillowcases
  • Mattress Pad/Topper
  • Alarm Clock
  • Blankets
  • Home Decor Items
  • Command Strips/Hooks to use to hang items on walls
  • Tension rods to use to put curtains in the window if preferred
  • Small fan
  • Bulletin board or white board
  • Calendar
  • Floor Rug/Bathroom Rug
  • Shower rod and liner are provided but those in suites and apartments may want to bring their own shower curtain
  • Storage Items for shoes, clothes
  • Bed risers, if preferred

For food:

  • Refrigerator (up to 4.8 cubic feet or smaller)
  • Microwave (700 watt and under)
  • Plates, Bowls, Eating and Cooking Utensils
  • Pots, pans, and cookie sheets to use in kitchens
  • Pot holders/Kitchen towels
  • Cups
  • Can Opener
  • Water and Drinks
  • Food Containers and Ziploc Bags
  • Dishwashing detergent, hand sponge and drying mat to wash dishes/pots (dishwashers are not provided on campus)

For school:

  • Backpack
  • Notebooks/Binders with Paper

  • Ethernet Cable/ Wireless Router (wireless routes should not be used in Cottingham and Richardson halls, as wireless is provided already)

  • Surge Protectors for plugging in items

  • Athletic items to play ball with friends
  • Bicycles (must be stored on provided bike racks and registered with the Traffic Office)
  • Bicycle lock to store bike on bike racks located outside of hall
  • Swimsuit and Swim Towel

For you:

  • Wash Cloths, Hand and Bath Towels
  • Shower caddy/Shower Shoes

  • Laundry Detergent (quarters to wash clothes if in a location in which that is necessary)

THINGS NOT TO BRING:

  • Coffee Pots without an automatic shut off and with a hot plate (Keurig is allowed)
  • Candles/Incense/wax warmers
  • Pets (except fish)
  • Weapons/Guns/Fire Arms
  • Illegal Drugs/ Tobacco Products
  • Alcohol, Alcohol bottles (empty or otherwise) or Alcohol Paraphernalia (no alcohol signs or light up signs allowed to hang in your room)
  • Ironing Boards (provided in halls)
  • Open Heating Elements (space heaters, hot plates, George Foreman grills, toaster ovens)
  • Electronic skateboards and scooters
  • Halogen lamps
  • Space Heaters
  • Decorations that hang from the ceiling
  • Flammable items such as charcoal, lighter fluid, and propane tanks
