Our Mission

The mission of the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Science (CBERS) is to conduct basic and translational research in Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Engineering that would lead to the understanding of the mechanisms and modeling of biological processes and phenomena, and provide solutions to problems that limit the health and well-being of individuals. We accomplish this mission by providing a state-of-the-art research environment that promotes the education and training in Biomedical and Rehabilitation Engineering, encourages interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research collaborations, generates intellectual property and stimulates the economic development of the State of Louisiana.

Our Vision

Our vision is to develop novel biotechnology and advanced interventions, including diagnostic and prosthetic devices, algorithms, tools, and biomaterials, that would critically contribute to the elucidation of complex biological structures and functions, and assist with the treatment of, and rehabilitation from, medical diseases and disorders. To accomplish this vision we partner with industry, government, and academic institutions throughout the State of Louisiana, nationally and internationally.
