Students must meet University Admission Requirements, comply with academic regulations
and policies, and adhere to the Louisiana Tech University student handbook.
Students must meet the minimum criteria to be considered for enrollment in NURS courses.
- Admission to the University and submission of all official transcripts to the Office
of Admissions at Louisiana Tech University.
- Hold an Associate Degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Declare RN-BSN as major through Tech Online.
- Earned grade of “C” or better in all required courses.
- Provide proof of current unencumbered RN license or permit to practice in the state
in which clinical experiences will be completed.
- Integrated RN-BSN undergraduate clinical students currently attending Louisiana Tech
University and enrolled in approved BSN courses NURS 3003 and NURS 3203 respectively.
Once student is admitted to the RN-BSN program, any subsequent disciplinary action,
arrest, criminal charge, or conviction, addiction, or impairment shall also be reported
immediately to the Program Chair of the RN-BSN program and to the Registered Nursing
Licensure Board of the primary state of residence (e.g. Louisiana State Board of Nursing).
A total of 120 semester credit hours is required for the BSN degree. Up to 75% of
total credits may be transferred from a nationally accredited associate degree nursing
program and/or regionally accredited institution of higher education. A grade of C
or better is required for all courses required for the BSN degree. An individualized
curriculum plan will be developed for each student by the RN-BSN Program Chair upon
admission to the program. It is the responsibility of the student to seek pre-approval for transfer of credit
of any external courses taken at other institutions.
Progression in the RN-BSN program includes the following criteria:
- Complete pre- and co- requisite courses in the nursing curriculum.
- Earn a minimum of “C” in all required courses.
- Adhere to Louisiana Tech University Academic Standards for Matriculation, Status,
Grading, and Graduation.
Louisiana Tech University evaluates eligibility for enrollment in the online RN-BSN
program on a state-by-state, case-by-case basis to ensure compliance with applicable state authorization and regulatory requirements.
Eligibility may vary based on a student’s state of residence and/or the state in which
required educational activities will be completed. Prospective students residing outside
of Louisiana are encouraged to contact the Division of Nursing prior to applying to
confirm whether enrollment in the RN-BSN program is available in their state.
