Visual Impairments - Blind Education (Certificate)

Train to teach and empower students who are blind or have low vision

The graduate certificate in Visual Impairments (Blind Education) prepares educators and professionals to teach students who are blind or have low vision across a range of settings. Rooted in high expectations and structured-discovery learning methods, the program provides the knowledge and hands-on training needed to support students' academic success and independence. Students learn braille literacy, assistive technology, adaptive teaching strategies, and how to create inclusive and accessible classroom environments. Through immersive experiences at the Louisiana Center for the Blind, students build non-visual skills alongside blind peers, gaining a deeper understanding of independence, confidence, and instructional methods that work.
