Electrical Engineering (BSEE)

From power systems to photonics and microelectronics. designing the future today.

Are you ready to develop the technology of the future? Louisiana Tech’s Electrical Engineering program provides a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and core engineering principles, before exploring areas such as electrical theory, electronics, power systems, communication systems, control systems, and robotics. You’ll design and build cutting-edge devices and systems while gaining hands-on experience in modern labs that spark creativity and professional growth.

Beyond technical skills, our diverse curriculum helps you understand the broader impact of engineering on society, preparing you for job opportunities with electrical utilities, aerospace design firms, electronics design, and communication systems development. Join us to innovate, solve complex challenges, and shape the technology that drives tomorrow.

Program Educational Outcomes:

ELEN PEO-01 Established themselves as practicing professionals or engaged in an advanced study in an electrical engineering or related area.

ELEN PEO-02 Received positive recognition and reward for the productive application of their skills and knowledge.

Student Outcomes:

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics;
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, and social, environmental, and economic factors;
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences;
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgements, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts;
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives;
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgement to draw conclusions; and
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
