Erica Perry Murray

Research Associate Professor
Department: Institute for Micromanufacturing | Mechanical Engineering

Overview

Erica Perry Murray received her BS in Physics from the University of California San Diego in 1992. Upon graduating she joined the Department of Academic Enrichment at UCSD and became the coordinator for the Minority Science Program. Thereafter, she earned her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University in 1999. Her thesis research concentrated on solid oxide fuel cells for low-temperature operation and hydrocarbon fuel utilization. She joined the Physical and Environmental Sciences Department at Ford Motor Company in 2000 where her research activities focused on exhaust gas sensing. In 2010, she joined the Institute for Micromanufacturing that is a part of the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University. Her research applies electrochemical techniques to study the role of microstructure on the electrical response of solid state gas sensors, and the corrosion of complex metal alloys fabricated by various additive manufacturing methods.
