Dr. Vandenbrink obtained his undergraduate degree in Biological Science from Western
Michigan University. Afterwards, he obtained his PhD in Genetics from Clemson University
(Go Tigers!). Dr. Vandenbrink then traveled to the University of Virginia where he
studied Heliotropism in the lab of Dr. Ben Blackman. From there, he traveled to the
University of Mississippi to begin his work on Space Biology in the lab of Dr. John
Kiss. Here, Dr. Vandenbrink took part in a suite of 3 spaceflight experiments, Seedling
Growth 1, 2 &3. After the conclusion of these experiments, Dr. Vandenbrink joined
the faculty of the Biological Science Department at Louisiana Tech University, where
he continues to focus his research on plant movement and space biology.
