Sarah McVay, DNP, MSN, CNE, CPN, serves as Director of the Division of Nursing at
Louisiana Tech University. A proud 1999 graduate of Tech’s nursing program, Dr. McVay
brings more than 27 years of nursing experience in Louisiana, including 14 years in
nurse education.
Dr. McVay is honored to lead the program that shaped her own professional journey.
Guided by a leadership philosophy grounded in collaboration, innovation, and a growth
mindset, she is committed to fostering an environment where students are empowered
to lead with purpose and faculty are supported in their pursuit of excellence.
She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing Education.
Her career spans both clinical practice and academia, with expertise in curriculum
development, accreditation, student success, and faculty mentorship. Known for her
student-centered approach, Dr. McVay has introduced numerous high-impact learning
experiences, including a pediatric medical camp partnership with MedCamps of Louisiana
featured in 1894 Magazine and the Beyond 1894 podcast.
In 2022, Dr. McVay founded Louisiana Tech’s chapter of the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing
Honor Society, which supports academic excellence and professional development for
associate degree nursing students. She is also a key contributor to the university’s
SACSCOC Quality Enhancement Plan, working with the CHAMP initiative (Cultivating Holistic
Advising to Maximize Potential) to advance student success through interdisciplinary
collaboration.
