Undergraduate Transfer Admission
A transfer student must:
- Have earned 24 hours or more with:
A cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher
• Completion of a college-level English and Mathematics course
OR
- Have earned fewer than 24 hours with
A cumulative GPA of 2.25 and
• Having met all other admissions standards for first-time freshmen
OR
- Have earned an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
Students transferring should submit an application and official transcript(s) from each college attended, regardless of whether credit was earned or transferable.
All transcripts must be sent directly from each college or university to Louisiana
Tech University. Failure to report attendance at any previous institution may result
in the cancellation of admission or dismissal from the university.
All prior coursework is evaluated using Louisiana Tech University standards for probation,
suspension, grade point average, and credit hours—regardless of the policies or outcomes
at other institutions.
Students currently under scholastic or disciplinary suspension from another college
or university will not be admitted. Admission may only be considered once the suspension
period has ended. If no specific time is stated by the previous institution, the suspension
period must be equivalent to Louisiana Tech’s standards.
A maximum of 68 semester hours from a junior or community college may be applied toward
a bachelor’s degree at Louisiana Tech. Typically, only freshman- and sophomore-level
courses offered at Louisiana Tech are accepted from junior or community colleges.
Graduate Transfer Admission
The graduate transfer admission category applies to an applicant who
- is currently enrolled in a graduate program at another institution in the US and seeks
admission to Louisiana Tech University’s Graduate School without completing that program,
or
- was previously enrolled in a graduate program at another institution in the US, but
did not complete that degree.
Transfer admission students must meet the same requirements as entering graduate students
and be in good academic standing at the current institution (i.e., be eligible to
return to the previous institution). An official transcript from the current institution
reflecting the up-to-date academic record must be submitted before an admission decision
can be made.
Undergraduate students who have dropped out or have been suspended because of poor
academic performance may request to start over with the status of an entering freshman
at Louisiana Tech University under the provisions of academic renewal.

and other Louisiana colleges and universities.
Articulation Agreements
It is important that you note any asterisks, double asterisks, and/or end notes that
may be associated with a course, as these will help determine whether the course in
question will be accepted as equivalent.
Louisiana Tech University also offers the Transfer Evaluation System to its students
to provide students with an up-to-date library of all of our established equivalencies
from institutions that we have previously received transfer credit. Please note that
your department is responsible for accepting all transfer credits towards your curriculum.
If you have any questions regarding transferable credits please contact Sam Hansen
in the Office of Admissions at shansen@latech.edu or 318.257.2150.
- Transfer Evaluation System (TES) Louisiana Tech University offers the Transfer Evaluation System to its students to provide students with an up-to-date library of all established
equivalencies from institutions that we have previously received transfer credit.
This will give you an idea of what courses will transfer over. All of your college
level coursework will transfer for admission purposes, but your department is responsible
for accepting all transfer credits towards your curriculum. If you are searching for
a course, or courses, in TES® that have not been evaluated, this does not mean that
you will not receive credit upon transfer. We have not had the opportunity to evaluate
every course in the country; TES® is an ever-expanding database. If you come across
a course that has not been evaluated, please contact your department with the name
of your institution, the semester in which you took (or will be taking) the course,
and the course name and number. They will be able to have the course evaluated for
you.
Louisiana Tech’s Course Catalog includes a list of courses required for each major,
course descriptions, and more.

The Associate of Science Louisiana Transfer degree (ASLT) and the Associate of Arts
Louisiana Transfer degree (AALT) are specifically designed for students who wish to
start at a Louisiana community college, earn an associate degree and then “block transfer”
that degree to a 4-year university for the purpose of obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
Students who possess a Louisiana Transfer associate degree are automatically admitted
to Louisiana Tech University.
