Library COVID-19 Response
In compliance with Louisiana Tech University policies and protocols, students and staff are required to wear masks or face covers, to maintain physical distancing, to wash hands regularly, and to use proper sneeze and cough practices while visiting the Library.

Saturday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Restricted Access to Floors
2nd Floor (Main Floor) is open to patrons.
1st Floor (Basement) is closed.
3rd to 9th Floors are closed to patrons.
10th Floor is open for access to the Computing Center Help Desk.
Tables, desks and carrels are available on 2nd Floor (Main Floor), provided that minimal physical distancing is observed.
1st Floor (Basement) is closed.
Group Study rooms are closed.
The Leisure Reading area on 3rd Floor is closed.
Food or Drink
No food is allowed.
No drink is allowed except for water in covered or sealable containers.
Course instructors may request a session tailored to course objectives and students’ needs either using the online request form or by contacting their college liaison librarian. Scheduled sessions will be conducted as Zoom meetings hosted by the librarian, presentations digitally recorded with Mediasite, or in-person meetings only if the course instructor’s smart classroom is large enough to comply with physical distancing requirements.
Patrons may not visit or browse the Book Collection. A Library staff member at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd Floor (Main Floor) will either retrieve the desired materials or accompany you to the appropriate floor. Patrons can place a hold in the Library Catalog for books shelved in the Book Collection.
Reshelving of Materials
Do not reshelve Library materials. Those used inside the building must be left at designated locations for quarantine.
Physical items placed on Reserve must follow quarantine procedures for three days.
Borrowing a Laptop or Webcam
At the Circulation Desk, Faculty and students may check out a laptop or webcam for the quarter. Overdue fines: $10/day for laptops; $5/day for webcams. If a laptop or webcam is lost or damaged, the patron must pay its replacement cost.
Patrons may not visit or browse the Periodicals Collection. A Library staff member will either retrieve the desired journals, magazines and newspapers (in paper or on microfilm), or accompany you to the 3rd Floor. Contact Ben Quinnelly, 318.257.2180 firstname.lastname@example.org
The physical collections on the 1st Floor (Basement) and 2nd Floor (Main Floor) are closed to the public, but the Federal and Louisiana State Documents will be available upon request or electronically through the Library Catalog. A staff member will retrieve requested items and the Government Documents Librarian, Abby DeSoto (318-257-4989 email@example.com) will be available for reference assistance.
Archives and Special Collections
Access to the Archives on the 4th Floor is by appointment only. Donations of materials for the Archives may be brought to the 2nd Floor (Main Floor). Consult the University Archivist, Nolan Eller 318.257.2287 firstname.lastname@example.org.
Submitting a Dissertation or Thesis
Copies of theses and dissertations are accepted for processing by appointment only. Contact Ben Quinnelly, 318.257.2180 email@example.com.
