Carlton Golden, Jr., ’85, chairman of Builders Supply, and former national chairman of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), will be the featured executive for the “Inside the C-Suite” series hosted by Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m. in Davis Auditorium (College of Business 101). The event is open to the public.
During the event, Golden will join College of Business Dean Chris Martin for a moderated question-and-answer discussion, “Culture, Capital, and Capitol Hill: C-Suite Lessons on Survival and Growth.” The conversation will explore building and sustaining organizational culture, making strategic investment and growth decisions, and navigating the intersection of business, government policy, and regulation.
"Inside the C-Suite" brings students face-to-face with top corporate leaders, including presidents, CEOs, CFOs, COOs, for firsthand perspectives on the pressing issues and emerging challenges confronting businesses today. The series takes students beyond the classroom to explore how those at the highest levels of leadership make consequential decisions, navigate uncertainty, balance competing priorities, and guide their organizations through an ever-changing business environment.
“What distinguishes ‘Inside the C-Suite’ is the opportunity for students to hear directly from the individuals ultimately responsible for an organization’s most important decisions,” said Dr. Martin. “We want our students to understand not only the challenges business leaders face but how they think through complex issues, weigh competing interests, and make decisions when there are no easy answers. Carlton’s extensive experience in business leadership and national industry advocacy makes him particularly well-suited to provide that perspective.”
Golden joined Builders Supply full time after earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Louisiana Tech in 1985. A fourth-generation leader of the family business, he became the company’s fourth president in 2009, carrying forward a legacy dating to 1913. Under his leadership, Builders Supply expanded its regional presence and today serves commercial, industrial, residential, and infrastructure projects throughout Northwest and Central Louisiana.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Golden has been an influential advocate for the construction industry and economic development across Louisiana. He has served in national leadership positions with NRMCA, including as its chairman, and has held leadership roles with the Interstate 49 International Coalition, the Shreveport and Bossier chambers of commerce, and numerous regional economic development organizations.
