Proctoring Services
Testing & Disability Services (TDS) provides proctoring services exclusively for students from other institutions and for Louisiana Tech students who are registered with Disability Services and require accommodated testing for their Louisiana Tech coursework. Proctored exams for other universities are administered by appointment and require a $20 fee per exam. After scheduling an appointment by emailing TestingLab@LATech.edu, students must ensure their instructors send all necessary exam materials to this address. The proctoring fee must be paid at the Cashier’s Office in Keeny Hall prior to the exam appointment, and students must bring the receipt with them to the Testing Center. Students are responsible for confirming that all exam materials have been received before their scheduled appointment.
Louisiana Tech students who are registered with Disability Services should follow the scheduling instructions provided to them at the time their accommodations were approved. These students must use the designated scheduling system outlined in their approval materials and cannot schedule accommodated exams by email. All accommodated testing appointments must be made according to the procedures established by Disability Services.
TDS does not proctor exams for Louisiana Tech students who are not registered with Disability Services. Louisiana Tech students enrolled in courses that require proctored assessments should consult their instructor or departmental office for guidance in arranging appropriate proctoring. Instructors and departments will provide direction on approved proctoring options and procedures for course‑related examinations.
Major Field Test
Major Field Tests are given by universities to assess the educational outcomes of their programs. The tests also provide students with an assessment of their own level of achievement within a field of study. All subjects are computer based and are two hours in length.
The MFT is usually administered during the senior year when students have completed the majority of courses within their major. At the instruction of the academic dean, advisor, or capstone professor, appointments should be made no later than one month before graduation.
Appointments are made by emailing TestingLab@LATech.edu. There is no fee required to take the MFT, but a Louisiana Tech ID is necessary. Additional information is provided upon scheduling.
