The Chevron Corporation is pumping money into Louisiana Tech’s College of Engineering and Science.

Chevron has announced that it will present Tech’s College of Engineering and Science with a $15,000 grant for the 2008-09 academic year.

The grant will include contributions to Tech’s civil, electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering programs while also helping fund various programs benefiting minority and women engineers. Chevron’s funding will allow each department to allocate money for a number of education purposes, including scholarships, conference travel, field trips, bringing in guest speakers and equipment purchases.

Dr. Stan Napper, dean of the College of Engineering and Science, said the Tech/Chevron team-up is vital to students in the engineering curriculum.

“These contributions from Chevron and other similar companies provide an important supplement to available resources. Our close relationship assures a high quality, relevant curriculum and a steady source of employment for our graduates.”
