Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has declared Dec. 19 as Louisiana Tech Football Day.
The proclamation was made by Rep. Henry Burns (R- Haughton) and Sen. Bob Kostelka (R-Monroe) in the Jarrell Room of the Charles Wyly Athletic Center.
“We’re so proud of Louisiana Tech,” Burns said. “We’re very happy with their success. The engineering background of the school and how (Tech) has contributed to everything has been phenomenal.”
Burns added that he would also be attending the Independence Bowl on Dec. 28, when the Bulldogs will play against the Northern Illinois Huskies.
“I will be rooting for the Bulldogs,” he said.
Head football coach and Athletics Director Derek Dooley said he hoped to continue the Bulldogs’ success at the Independence Bowl.
“We certainly wouldn’t be in this position if it were not for the commitment these young men have put forth,” Dooley said. “It’s going to be a great match up. This (proclamation) celebrates all the hard work and the commitment the team has made and their success on the field.”
Independence Bowl tickets can be purchased online at www.latechsports.com or by calling Louisiana Tech’s ticket office at (318) 257-3631. All ticket orders can be picked up at the Tech ticket office located in the Thomas Assembly Center or at will call on Gameday.
