Louisiana Tech’s IDEA Place will host a SCI-FRI Bicentennial Birthday Bash on Feb. 13 in honor of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born 200 years ago this February.

The experiments and activities will be related to President Lincoln and the Civil War.

“Many are unaware of the many contributions the former president made to our state and our parish, which shares its name with the former leader,” said Lindsey B. Keith-Vincent, museum educator. “This will be a great opportunity to share the information with our young people.”

SCI-FRI will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for students ages 5-12 at a cost of $20 per child. In addition to the regular SCI-FRI pizza and drink menu, everyone will get to enjoy a birthday cake and a special presentation in the planetarium. Early drop-off is at 6 p.m. and late pick-up at 10 p.m. is available for $5 more.

“This event is a branch of the larger State and National Bicentennial initiative,” Keith-Vincent said. “This will be a great opportunity for the IDEA Place and residents of Lincoln Parish to take part in a memorial celebration that will span our nation.”
