Dr. Dolliann Hurtig has received statewide and national attention from the Louisiana Foreign Language Teacher’s Association and the American Association of Teachers of French.
Hurtig has been appointed as co-chairman of the National Committee on the Promotion of French in the United States of America. Dr. Marie-Christine Koop, president of the American Association of Teachers of French, the largest association of French professors and teachers in the United States, awarded Hurtig this appointment.
The selection is permanent and will place Hurtig on the executive council of the national association and will require her presence at council meetings and yearly presentations at the annual convention. This year, Hurtig plans to discuss how to use French cinema in the foreign language classroom. The presentation will be given at the annual convention from July 2-5 in San Jose, Calif.
Hurtig will also speak before the state association Feb. 27 on Francophone songs and how to effectively use song as a pedagogical tool in the foreign language classroom. Hurtig, who is a past president of the Association of State Language Teachers and Professors, will speak in the target language, and her session is titled “Chansons francophones dans la sale de classe francaise.”
