The national office of Xi Sigma Pi, the forestry honor society, moved to Louisiana Tech. The Alpha Phi Chapter is the parent chapter for 2009 and 2010.

Officers at Tech include George Grozdits, an assistant professor of forestry, as national forester; Mark Gibson, director of the School of Forestry, as national associate forester; and Dave Long, an assistant professor of forestry, as national fiscal agent.

Tech’s main office will administer the National Forestry Honor Society’s business for the next two years.

Xi Sigma Pi has 35 active chapters and six inactive chapters. The society strives to secure and maintain a high standard of scholarship in forestry education, to work for the improvement of the profession and promote fellowship of those involved in the field of forestry.
