Apr 22, 2009 | General News

Demonstrations, competitions and sales will all be available Spursfor those interested in attending Louisiana Tech’s 39th annual Farm Production Sale.

Scheduled for Saturday, May 2, the day’s events will begin at 10 a.m. with a demonstration by Paul Daily of Wild Horse Ministries, who will display his techniques on a green, unbroken, 2-year-old horse.

At noon, Tech students will participate in a Ranch Horse Competition, which will feature some of the horses in the afternoon’s sale. Some of the objectives the students and their horses will have to accomplish include: penning a cow, dragging an object, such as a log, and opening and closing a gate without getting off of the horse. The student who wins the competition will win a pair of spurs with the Louisiana Tech emblem, crafted by National Ropers Supply.

The production sale will begin at 1 p.m., and a variety of animals are available for purchase, including quarter and paint horses and commercial Brangus and crossbred heifers.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information visit www.livestocksale.latech.edu or contact Dr. Gary Kennedy, agricultural sciences department head, at (318) 257-3275.
