Final two events for Shaping the 21st Century series announced

The last two events for Louisiana Tech’s Shaping the 21st Century: Focus on Latin America will be a brownbag lunch video and discussion and a film screening.

The brownbag lunch video and talk will take place at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at the International Student Office. Dr. Stephen Webre, head of the department of history, will introduce the 1995 movie “Amazon Journal,” produced and directed by Geoffrey O’Connor.

The film screening of “Cidade de Deus (City of God)” on Tuesday, May 12 will round out the Latin America series. “Cidade de Deus” is a 2003 film directed by Fernando Meirelles and will be shown at 6:30 p.m. at the A.E. Phillips Planetarium.

This year’s Shaping the 21st Century series is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Education, the International Education Committee and the Working Group on Latin America Studies.
