Louisiana Tech University and the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in College Station have signed an agreement that will allow TEEX to provide some of its specialized curriculum and workforce training programs to Louisiana workers.

The Workforce Training Collaboration Agreement signed on April 28 allows TEEX and Louisiana Tech’s Division of Continuing Education and Distance Learning to jointly provide workforce training through the Incumbent Worker Training Program and similar programs offered by the State of Louisiana.

“This agreement expands Louisiana Tech’s comprehensive portfolio of programs to more effectively meet the professional and workforce training needs of businesses and citizens in Louisiana,” said Dr. James Smith, Director of Louisiana Tech’s Division of Continuing Education and Distance Learning . “This collaboration with TEEX enhances Louisiana Tech’s capabilities in designing a systematic program that effectively targets an industry or company’s identified workforce training needs,” he added.

“TEEX will serve as a training provider when specific courses are not available at Louisiana institutions, and will work with Louisiana Tech to obtain workforce training grants and other opportunities for meeting the state’s workforce training needs,” said Mark Posada, TEEX Manager of Education and Training Initiatives. “We are excited about working with Louisiana Tech and the opportunity to expand our course offerings to our neighbors in Louisiana,” he added.

World renowned for its hands-on, customized training, the Texas Engineering Extension Service offers a wide range of technical, skills training programs aimed at employed workers and those entering the labor force. During its fiscal year 2008, TEEX provided training and technical assistance to more than 209,000 people from all 50 states, five U.S. territories, the District of Columbia and 61 countries. TEEX is a member of The Texas A & M University System.
