Tech’s summer commencement scheduled for Aug. 20

Louisiana Tech’s summer graduation ceremonies will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 in the Thomas Assembly Center.

Dr. Wiliam H. Green, Tech professor and resident veterinarian, will serve as keynote speaker for commencement.

Green received his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Louisiana Tech and from there went to Louisiana State University for his master’s and Auburn University for his doctorate in veterinary medicine. He has served on Tech’s faculty since 1980.

Green has also been awarded the Louisiana Tech University Foundation 2009 Professorship Award, the F.J. Taylor Tech Foundation Undergraduate Teaching Award, and the McGehee Endowed Professorship in agriculture, among many other honors. He serves as president of the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine, which protects the public from unscrupulous veterinary practices; is a member of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Folder Review, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Interview Committee, and is a consultant for local, area, and state veterinarians and food animal producers concerning issues of veterinary medicine.

Classes for the fall quarter will begin Sept. 10, and residence halls will open Sept. 4.
