Faculty concert series of year to begin
The Louisiana Tech Faculty Concert Series will debut Tuesday, Sept. 29, featuring a chamber music program with Tech professors Dr. Steele Moegle, pianist; Dr. Lisa Maxedon, soprano; and guest artist Dr. Diane Boyd Schultz, flute, from the University of Alabama.
The concert will feature a variety of musical selections, including compositions by Debussy, Casella, Devienne, Hoiby and Amirov.
Moegle is an associate professor of piano, and her solo and collaborate performances have taken her to numerous universities in the region as a guest artist. Maxedon is an assistant professor of music and serves as the head of vocal studies and director of opera. In addition to her performance career, Maxedon is in demand for her innovative research concerning vocal health and development.
Schultz is an associate professor of flute at the University of Alabama. Schultz has established her career through solo and chamber performances in the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Romania and Austria. She is principal flutist of the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, flutist/piccoloist of the Capstone Wind Quintet, and a frequent performer with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She is also a Yamaha Performing Artist.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Stone Theatre, located in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts. The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Dr. Daniel Immel at (318) 257-5273.
