Faculty to hold second concert of season

The second concert of Louisiana Tech’s Faculty Concert Series will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts.

This concert will feature Kristin Polk, an assistant professor of oboe and music theory. She will be joined by Randall Sorensen, trumpet; Laura Thompson, harpsichord; Ann Sorensen, violin, Karl Puljak, cello, and Daniel Immel, piano. The concert will feature a variety of musical selections, including compositions by Hartel, Schumann, Bellini, Arnold, Andriessen and Telemann.

Polk teaches oboe, bassoon and flute lessons in addition to music theory and music technology. She also is principal oboist in the Rapides and Monroe symphony orchestras. She received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas and also holds degrees from the University of Minnesota and James Madison University. Polk was an original member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and has performed with the Shreveport Symphony, the San Angelo (Texas) Symphony, the Longview (Texas) Symphony and the South Arkansas Symphony.
