Nov 3, 2009 | General News

It’s time for entrepreneurs to shape up and get ready to start up that business. Louisiana Tech’s Technology Business Development Center, College of Business and the Association of Business, Engineering and Science Entrepreneurs are sponsoring the Basic Business Boot Camp Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Louisiana Tech College of Business, Room 102.

The camp will provide a general look at many topics dealing with the start-up of a business venture. Speakers from Tech College of Business will be on hand as well as local business people and entrepreneurs.

Some of the topics will include calculating financial needs, hiring and management structures. Also, a panel of local entrepreneurs will offer real-world advice. The sponsors hope to cultivate interest in business ownership and show the reality of the competitive business market.

Participants will understand how to assess the feasibility of business ideas and how to initiate the business planning process. They will also receive reference materials and referral information about organizations that may be helpful in developing a business plan.

The cost to attend the Business Boot Camp is $30 for the general public. The cost for university students, faculty or staff is $15 with a valid ID. Registration fee includes the seminar, lunch and the book, “Business Plan in a Day,” by Rhonda Abrams. Abrams is a nationally recognized newspaper columnist, bestselling author and entrepreneur.

To register, submit your name, e-mail address and phone number by Wednesday, Nov. 4. Call (318) 257-3537, Fax (318) 257-4442, or e-mail tbdc@latech.edu.
